Adopting VS Buying Dogs: A Webinar

The first project that the Strivers for Change have worked on has happened and was a huge success! The webinar that the animal department worked so hard on took place on December 15th. The webinar is about Adoption VS Buying dogs from breeders. This webinar’s information and creation has come to be with the help of two organizations which is S.T.R.A.W (Stray Relief and Animal Welfare) and W.F.A (World for All). It turned out extremely well and was intriguing and informative!

The webinar consisted of how to adopt dogs, what Puppy mills are, and guest speakers who shine some light on this topic.

What the organizations contributed to the webinar:

Stray Relief and Animal Welfare (STRAW) has talked about Puppy Mills (the inbreeding and hazards that happens towards dogs and puppies). World for All (WFA) talked about how to adopt and how to make adoption more aware.

A small brief about what happened and what was learnt:

Puppies (adopted or from breeding) have all gone through something extremely horrid and different from even humans. What a lot of people don’t know is that a lot of adopted puppies have gone through something extremely traumatic for them. This webinar really shone light on that and shows a lot of different contributing factors: the motives for buying puppies, why they are abandoned, why they are so important to me safe, how to protect them and more. Adoptions are also a huge part of making dogs lives better and healthier in general. A few ways to adopt are from shelters, adopting strays. Adoptions protocol is extremely important because adopting is bringing a new family member home.

All in all, the webinar was informative and intriguing. Adopting dogs, adding a new family member and saving them has become crystal clear!
